Listen More – I Am Always Gathering
As I sit with a friend or two or three, I gather. I hear them, I listen for the meanings in their words. I try to feel what they feel and share. I gather as I talk with my mother on the phone. I want to know that her voice is normal, that she is feeling well and I am interested in her days. I gather. I am try to improve and listen more.
As I read the emails of a grieving friend, I gather her words and place them in little departments in my mind so that I can be sensitive, caring and understanding.
I gather as I read posts on Social Media attempting to gain knowledge or a smile from what the friends have written. What could possibly have compelled them to write a particular sentence or make a specific statement? I gather that they wanted to share with someone, including me, their thoughts of importance, or mischief or humor.
As I see images or watch children play and people interact, I gather. Putting words together in order to understand the limits and the stretches of the imaginations that surround me, causes me to collect thoughts and words.
When I reflect, I gather. When I dream, I gather. When I have moments that I never want to forget, I gather. Life shows us ways to gather from others, from circumstances and small moments of sharing. It is important to put it all together. Maybe the bundles aren’t always neatly tied. Possibly some of the words of wisdom and experimentation will often slip through our memory cracks. But.. I continue to gather.
When should we listen more deeply?
From you I can learn new open ways of thinking. I can gather and collect for my thought collections and writings, valuable, precious word gems. Some day maybe someone else will treasure them too.
From every moment, good and bad, happy and sad, I gather. I learn so that I may share, encourage, inspire, weep with a friend or support them. I gather rocks of strength some days more than others. I gather soft pillows of contentment and softly clouded skies at more relaxing times. In every one of these days, I collect for my collection, priceless unmatched love prints and conscious actions in my life. I learn to change the way I view people in their life situations and think about what brought them to the moment of despair or of joy.
We can choose to gather negative words and thoughts. We can choose to increase our collections with trivial pursuits and wasted time. I choose to gather life in a bigger bundle every day, so that I may draw from that bundle of wise words from others, of smiles and laughter that others have offered. Watching joy radiate from laughing children and enjoying the contented smiles of the elderly is charming.
To show peace of heart and mind is magic, My desire is to stand on faith that’s proven to be firm foundation.
Oh, yes, sometimes I fail. But I still gather and resolve to do better. When I think of the patience and goodness of God toward me, I gather feelings of gratitude, joy and trust.
I gather… and strive to bloom in every way, every day!
May God grant you gatherings of undeniable peace and unmatched joy.
